  • Re: Control Devices in Real Time with Bitcoin and Tokens?

Thanks @adam and Cryptonaut for the info on the Token Slot... this looks like it might already do what we want..... I'll talk to our dev and see if we can do a test.... controlling real world devices with digital tokens adds another application to the long list of what Tokenly can ultimately enable.... LOVE what you guys are building and hope we can contribute on the additional uses for tokens....

Will keep you posted as we try out Token Slot. Thanks again.

  • Control Devices in Real Time with Bitcoin and Tokens?

I just created a website called www.ucontrol.tv which is a live demonstration of how bitcoin can be used to control real world devices. Currently, it's a very simple setup of 3 buckets and each bucket has a corresponding bitcoin address. The amount of bitcoin sent to a specific address proportionately fills the bucket with water and then will tip over. You can send amounts as small as 0.0005btc ($0.12).

My question for this forum is what if instead of bitcoin we used a token to control the devices. By sending a token to an address a callback api would trigger a real world action? I think I saw a bounty for someone to create a Tokenly callback API which would be incredibly awesome to control devices in the real world by possessing a digital token. For example, if I possess a certain token I am now allowed to open certain doors, devices, control valves, etc....

I know the aspects of TCA have been discussed before on the forums pertaining to digitial goods but I was hoping to get more feedback on TCA used for real world devices. Also any feedback on our site Ucontrol.TV is much appreciated.

  • Re: Citizenfour

Just saw Citizenfour last night and it's a MUST SEE!!!!!

Especially us in the world of bitcoin and cryptocurrencies will appreciate (or possibly disgust) you the extent the NSA has overreached their authority and violated (rather torn to shreds) the constitution.

I didn't know much about Edward Snowden, but after the documentary you will realize Snowden is a true patriot. The documentary is a minute by minute first person account of the days leading up to and after his disclosure. There is no media filter, no hearsay, no B.S. you will hear his thoughts and his motives in real time.

Ok, enough of my opinion. Watch the documentary you won't be disappointed.

    Best,

    Dale.

  • Re: Craigslist adopts Bitcoin

    Rob,

Great idea! I already see many Craigslist postings that say "accepts Cash or Bitcoin" but that is buried in the detailed description. Getting the crypto community to use a simply phrase in the TITLE of the Craigslist listings would add tremendous visibility and build awareness.

    Example:

1986 Schwinn Madison Track Bike 21"(Bitcoin accepted)

(Bitcoin accepted) might be simple enough to get people talking..... Any ideas how to best reach the cryto community to get people to start doing this? LTB is a great start but what about Reddit ?

    Best,

    Dale.

  • Re: Craigslist adopts Bitcoin

Thanks Jamesmm for the great comments and thoughts.

Let me answer your question in the first post. I'm not asking Craigslist to accept BTC for paid listings (although that would be a nice possible outcome of this request) but instead I am asking Craigslist to visibly show which seller listings on Craigslist accept Bitcoin. By showing the BTC logo next to each seller listing this would greatly improve the awareness of bitcoin within the general population. Also for larger transactions I think bitcoin would be the currency of choice.

I sold a car on craigslist a few months back and it was such a pain. The buyer wanted to give me a cashiers check (warning bells as there are so many scams with cashiers checks). So we both had to go to his bank and confirm his identify, account balance, etc while at the bank. Even then I took the risks that if the check was discovered fraudulent a few days later I would be out of luck.

The main reason I'm making this proposal to Craigslist is to ultimately grow the awareness and use of bitcoin within that (very large) community.

    Best,

    Dale.

  • Need editing and graphics help with a proposal

I'm seeking help to refine a 1 page proposal in both copy and images. I currently have version 1 of the proposal but believe it contains too much text and needs better icons and images. I can pay in LTB for your efforts but would need to agree on a price before work begins.

I'm an avid user of Craigslist and avid user of Bitcoin. The synergy between the two platforms is compelling. Craigslist is the precursor to "Open Bazaar". However, Craigslist has a very large marketplace NOW and Bitcoin can use this to immediately expand its user base, utility, and achieve scale.

I want to get a 1 page proposal in the hands of Craig (the founder of Craigslist) and have 2 tasks.

    1) Review, critique, edit, make changes, etc to first version of proposal at: first proposal.

    2) Once we have a clean, concise, proposal from 1) I am seeking assistance to promote the proposal through various channels? (i.e reddit, direct email to Craig, radio, TV, etc)

Please contact if you would like to assist and how much you would charge for your efforts.

    Best,

    Dale.

  • Craigslist adopts Bitcoin

The title of this post "Craigslist adopts Bitcoin" is the goal and am asking the LTB community for help to achieve.

Here's the proposal. I want to get a 1 page proposal in the hands of Craig (the founder of Craigslist) and I'm reaching out to the LTB community to help.

    2) Once we have a clean, concise, proposal from 1) what methods would you use to get the proposal into the hands of Craig? (i.e reddit, direct email to Craig, radio, TV, etc)

I appreciate feedback (good, bad, ugly) on the idea and welcome all suggestions.

    Dale.

  • Re: Richard Boase and his Kenya Experiance

So many people miss the root cause of poverty: Government corruption.

I think Richard expects Bitcoin to solve the poverty problem when it really is a government problem.

During his interview he cited several examples of government corruption: 1) He stated data plans for internet usage are 20times more expensive in Africa --> Gov't monopoly of telecom 2) He stated tablets are typically very expensive to purchase --> High gov't tarriffs on imports

If you want to end poverty, start by taking power away from governments. Bitcoin is the greatest tool that puts power back in the hands of the governed and out of the hands of inept or corrupt governments.
