  • Utilizing token for Bitcoin charity platform BitHope.org

    Just a quick post to introduce another interesting use case for tokens.

    First online Bitcoin charity platform in Europe, BitHope.org has announced they have integrated token and reward donors with their original token, HOPECOIN with IndieSquare's tip button.

    (More details in this article: https://bithope.org/news/we-are-now-part-of-the-counterparty-project)

    I think this is great as it gives donors extra incentive for their good action and potentially allow BitHope to collaborate with other projects through the use of tokens. Spell of Genesis already seems interested in supporting their cause as they did with Foldingcoin project.

    Anyways, I just thought this might interest some people on this forum. If you are interested in using IndieSquare's tip button on your service or know more about it, please leave a comment here.

    Thanks for reading!

    Hi @yefet

    That seems like a protocol level bug, but we'll take a look. can you tell us your IndieSquare Wallet's ID from the settings? You can DM me if you are worried about your privacy. Thank you!

    @yefet @cointea1121

    @heunland

    @yefet Today once again, the problem with correct order price placement :-(

    Maybe it's a common CounterParty DEX bug, not just IndieSquare

    please post a screenshot and tag @cointea1121 in your post so he can take a look at it for you.

    As I said it looks like CounterParty DEX bug :-(

    Today I've been trying to sell MAGICFLDC matching existing buy order at price 0.00004020 XCP. Firstly I place the order in IndieSquare by clicking the existed best buy price (I checked the result twice ;-) - the resulting sell order of mine was at 0.00004021 XCP. Then I cancel the order and placed it in Counterwallet. The result was the same - I'm selling 1 MAGICFLDC for 0.00004021, not for 0.00004020 XCP to match the existing buy order. So I give it up for now :-(

    Previously I experienced quite similar problem of price misplacement:

    I tried to buy an asset spending all XCP I had, the resulting order was at the price 0.00000001 XCP lower then I put in the price field.

    I canceled the order and re-made it with only part of my XCP - then I got the correct price.

    Hi, sorry about the trouble.

    If possible, can you send me a screenshot of the error and your ID in the settings? Please DM me with more info and we will look into the problem and resolve the issue. Thanks!

    @hotarugrey

    @heunland

    @hotarugrey got something wrong when polishing tokens, get error 504 : gateway time out..

    what happen actually?

    there is a new version of the Indiesquare wallet out now for Android. Is this error occurring on the new or the old version? Most of the time such errors are resolved if you just close the app and open it up again.

    I got the new version, at first i thought that it was because i don't update the wallet, but after i update the problem still there, it sometimes 504 sometimes 500.

    Tried to close and reopen, but nothing changed. I might have bad internet signal, but i can stil connect to the internet,,

    @yefet

    Thanks for the suggestion.

    It's something we are thinking about and get requests about occasionally.

    We are limiting to BTC to XCP swapping for now for the sake of simplicity(and also due to ShapeShift instability time to time) For a lot of new users, being able to swap to many CP tokens might be confusing a bit, so there are pros and cons.

    But we will keep an eye on this issue and listening to users' feedback and will support non-XCP swapping when it is the most appropriate.

    If you have any other suggestions, I would love to hear.

    @yefet

    @cointea1121 It's been a while I have updated this thread, but IndieSquare Wallet now supports push notifications between IndieSquare Wallet users. Never miss when you receive tokens on your wallet! Please update to the latest version on Appstore and Google Play.

    Still lots to build and fix but HD wallet is coming to IndieSquare Wallet very soon and we are going to release some additional services outside the wallet as well.

    Stay tuned!

    Thanks :-)

    I would like to make a feature request concerning ShapeShift inside IndieSquare wallet:

    as there are other CounterParty assets available in ShapeShift, is it possible to add their swap (at least for BTC) inside the IndieSquare?

  • Re: A tipping tool for content creators

    I suppose you are getting it wrong here actually. IndieSquare Wallet uses client side encryption which means the user has complete control over the private key and we, IndieSquare, do not have access to it.

    In Counterparty's case, you just need to keep the 12 word passphrase secure and with IndieSquare you can check your passphrase from the settings page as well.

    Also, the 12-word passphrase is compatible with Counterwallet as well as Tokenly Pocket, so you can migrate from/to Counterwallet easily.

    some more information can be found here. wallet.indiesquare.me

    @willh @cointea1121

    That would be great.

    I'll definitely have it on my mind, once I have some clear use cases I'll let you know. At the moment I don't have a token to use, but with some other projects coming down the line this could work well.

    Btw are there any plans for users to have access to their private key in the wallet itself? I get that having the option can create confusion, especially for newcomers. I only ask because when I tell people who are getting started that it's a good idea to store the private key somewhere safe, I have to direct them to Counterwallet. I guess having the option also opens up some security issues as well?

  • Re: A tipping tool for content creators

    I see. yeah it makes sense to me and we have talked about the possible tweak to the system internally to accommodate such situations like you suggested. We will definitely keep an eye on how users want to use our tool and make changes if necessary in the future.

    If you are interested in testing it out anyways with the current design, please send me a DM and I will help you set it up. It's still a bit unstable but some people have already started using it in Japan and have had some positive results so far.

    @willh @cointea1121

    Okay, cool.

    As for use cases for using any token:

    Because the tokens our artists receive give a possible payout if/when we make a profit they hold some value for the artist, however, they could choose to exchange them for bitcoin tips as that could give them an instant reward and a higher return in the short term. While their fans would be supporting them directly and also be rewarded for listening to them because they now hold the token and are eligible to receive the payouts we make.

    It might also be an easier solution for our artists. None of our artists were familiar with bitcoin before joining us. Which makes it hard for them to send any tokens because of miner fees and the awkwardness of getting a hold of bitcoin in the first place.

  • Re: A tipping tool for content creators

    Hey Will,

    Glad you like the idea! The tip button is closed beta if you are interested in testing it out already, you are more than welcome to become our tester/partner!

    To answer your questions,

    1. Currently, you can only create a tip button for the token you own. so for example, you cannot create a tip button for LTBCOIN. This might change in the future depending on how token holders use our tool but do you have any use cases for being able to choose any token?

    2. We currently do not hold any tokens unlike Swapbots or Coinvend. So every time you receive tips, we record how much you should pay back in tokens and you have to vend out on Indieboard yourself through the mobile wallet using your pin or touch ID. So, no issue for dividends.

    if you have any other question, let me know.

    @willh @cointea1121

    Hey, this is a very nice feature!

    Been anticipating this, if I recall correctly you mentioned the plans for it on your blog a while back.

    This could be something our artists/musicians can use once the IndieBoard is available. The project I run uses FANTOKEN as a token that represents our profits. This can be a great tool to get artists to share their tokens with fans. Our artists could use FANTOKEN as the token of appreciation when they receive tips, it creates a win-win situation like you mentioned.

    The questions I have:

    1. The way Indieboard works, can they use any token? That it doesn't have to be a token they issue themselves?

    2. Assuming that one would have to send the tokens to a specific address when creating the tip button, what happens when I make BTC or tokens distributions using the dividend function to FANTOKEN? Will the tip button address holding FANTOKEN receive the BTC?
  • Re: A tipping tool for content creators

    @adam. we've already done basic Tokenly payment button integration as a demo. We will probably make some UI modifications to better accommodate the Tokenly button but I would like to know if it looks ok to you.(Will DM you)

  • Re: Custom IndieSquare Wallet

    Hello,

    It's open sourced under GPLv2 license.

    You can fork and edit or create a custom skin to satisfy your needs and it's possible to limit tokens to be seen on the branded app.

    If you have any other general questions, please let me know.
