  • Re: ... Tokens in the Counterparty BitBowl!

    Interesting!

  • First round of improvements for LTB iOS App - Chime in!

    Hey everybody, the Let's Talk Bitcoin application in the apple App store was a great first step, but we've heard your feedback and are improving it before we dig into the Android application.

    There are two phases of improvement planned. The first is usability improvements for the application itself, the media player, downloading options, etc. The second is adding Magic Words and Forum functionality.

    We're about to begin the first phase, here is the change-list. Is there anything we've missed? Chime in asap

    • Skip forward 30s, backward 15s - (tap and currently displayed next/prev buttons)

    • 2x speed - actually i believe 1.4 will work better :)

    • Saving current listener place

    • Autoplay next episode

    • Downloading from homescreen

    • Local database with articles / podcast + better synchronization

    • Autodelete listened episodes option

    • Autodownload new episodes option

    • iPhone 4 context menu
  • Re: [CLOSED] Auction for 1 Hour of Adam B. Levine's Time

    @william & @shopnhowler

    I've sent your tokens, please contact [email protected] when you're ready to schedule for redemption.

    Rob - Next week we should have the auction vending machines ready, so this role is nearly over - I appreciate you running the show.

  • Richard Boase and his Kenya Experiance

    On episode 133 Stephanie interviewed Richard Boase, who traveled to Kenya on a mission of bitcoin evangelism and ran into a starkly different reality on the ground than the one he expected.

    What was your take-away? Did it change your viewpoints or opinion?

    Is it possible for western bitcoin users to help solve this problem, or is it better just to focus on developing the technology to its logical conclusion so eventually non-users in situations like kenya can leap-frog to very good tech in much the same way they went from no phones to mobile phones.

  • Re: Why the price of LTBcoins is going down and down ?

    @hesham3del

    @adam

    @irnhnve We are still in a period of mass inflation because of the large weekly payouts. Some people sell immediately upon receiving their distribution which drives the price down. Once distributions are smaller, 'dumps' will not be as large.

    Yep!

    on Saturday the money supply expanded about 8%, you can see the weekly distribution schedule (with the accompanying inflation) here https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1GzytNblMx8xBmUczX7sPC8QitkJrrRirNrh2AJtjy1Q/edit?usp=sharing

    If you're only in it for the money, LTB probably isn't the place for you. What we are doing is trying to create something (a community) from nothing, and give the people who make it possible (the community members) a token that will gain value as the community gains value. If the community does not gain value, the token doesn't really have much value because there are so many.

    Before we turned on the referral program the price was going up during greater levels of inflation simply because the people receiving the tokens believe in the long term and do not want to sell their tokens for any price now.

    You can make the token valuable by contributing worthwhile content that makes others want to contribute, rather than trying to figure out how to maximize your point earnings. You are of course welcome to maximize your point earnings and sell as soon as you recieve the tokens, but those actions are the reason the price is going down.

    I don't really think about the price seriously now at all, there is so little trade and it's still so early (less than 15% of the money supply is in the wild, and we're less than 3% done with the issuance schedule. Long road ahead of us.

    Thank you for your detailed answer adam.

    Could you answer this please.

    How can we recover the value ?

    What to do to prevent this from happening again ?

    It will probably continue going down in value for a while, we're still more valuable than doge after all.

    Like I said, I don't care about the price - the token is there to let people who are members of our community interact with us in a way that lets them either earn the token via participating as we ask them to or by buying them from someone who does. The price could be totally crazy until there is less than 1% inflation per month, right now it is something like 20%. The point now isn't for it to be worth something, it's for it to be easy for people to get and cheap for them to acquire. We want the most people to have LTBcoin as possble because eventually the flood of LTBc will turn to a trickle, and if we've succeeded in creating something people want to be part of, the value of the token that gives you access to it will increase.

    That's not the point, it's a side effect. We need to get the coins out somehow, we don't want to sell them, and we don't want to give them all away at once because then people who come just a little later wil miss out big. So we do a long, slow ramp down.

    If you really care about the price, your most effective strategy is probably to save the LTBc you've earned and see what they're worth in a year. Year 1 is the year of rapid issuance and inclusion.

  • Re: Can I earn credits for completing captchas?

    @sbatz72 I am sorry for the confusion. I only meant to ask if there would be other area of the LTB site hat would allow users to earn points. @adam has made a good point in answering this question. In fact a lot of you have offered some great input into answering the question. II am just new to the site and simply exploring it a little. I did no mean any harm by the question. I was merely offering some suggestions.

    No problem, welcome.

  • Re: PoP question

    currently all points are reckoned together, but the more you do of an action over the course of a week, the less each is worth in POP. If you do one that is the most you will make per post, each post will be worth less.

    The goal really isn't to just have people post for no reason, post if you have something to say and you'll be rewarded. Don't post if you don't have something to say because it's not so big a reward for you to waste your time wasting other peoples time trying to log posts for points.

  • Re: Is there still a payout for 5+ forum posts.

    @kerneloops

    @b1zarr0 Just curious because I only got 1 payout today for Pop. I believe there has been in the past a payout for 5+ forum posts. I do believe I had at least 5 this past week. So made me wonder. I do believe that there was a couple people working on the stats pages for such things. Just curious how far along that got. Thanks B1

    The last and final 5-post-payout was last Saturday.

    Yep, as was mentioned on every episode it was discussed the 5 forum post promotion was only for the first 4 weeks, today was our fifth weekly distribution.

    Hesham, I think you were the 19th highest awarded member this week out of more than 800 so you did much better than most, isn't that what matters?

  • Re: Can I earn credits for completing captchas?

    There will be increasingly more ways to contribute and use your LTBc, but the goal is to make them useful rather than makework. Solving captchas is at best makework and at worst subverting spam controls, I don't really see what value that adds so I don't think we'll do it.

    But there will be more methods and options in the future.
