Even though everyone thinks they are ticking time bombs, I have never had an issue with BTC-e and Cryptsy. Maybe it's because I only keep funds in my account on the exchange for a few minutes while a trade is being made, I have never had to contact support for an anything and always had things work as expected. That doesn't mean I'm not cautious though...

I briefly used BTCe about a year ago. It worked. Also I used coinedup last week. The spreads were too high, but it worked as well. Both required minimal identification. In both cases I was just trading to/from BTC to altcoins.

Cryptsy looks cool, but the KYC stuff seems way way over the top to me.

It is not really an exchnage in the classic sense, but I use coinbase to acquire new BTC via a weekly recurring buy order.

As a Canadian, I have dealt with Vault of Satoshi https://www.vaultofsatoshi.com/ and CA Virt Ex https://www.cavirtex.com/ for buying BTC with CAD. They are also exchanges so I have done a few trades.

They both have pretty tight KYC/verification requirements. VOS was a little easier to get verified on, but this was back in January so hard to tell how they do it now. I have also experienced the verification process on CA Virt Ex as well. Not for the anonymity-minded person in either case.

VOS - trades among many alt coins CA Virt Ex - lower trade fees

It would be nice to hear from other Canadians, how do you get BTC for CAD?

As a Canuck I enjoy Vault of Satoshi, enjoy Cryptsy for access to other alts and bittrex if I feel like playing the penny stocks :)

Btc-e for me i really don't like how the owners are anonymous but they have proved to be trustworthy for the last couple of months that i have used them.
