According to Founder David Irvine, the decentralized network will begin with a seed of 16 computers, which will propagate to every other computer in the world that chooses to stake a claim in the SafeNetwork universe. From here Mastercoin, Ethereum and every other forward-thinking BTC 2.0 effort will move their blockchains into the new network. At this moment, there are more than 700 developers, who have signed on to create apps for MaidSafe. The increased efficiency in this space will forever create a shift in how the internet functions: no more bottlenecks or DDOS attacks. The system as a whole becomes more natural and organic in its functionality.

Why would the nations of the world not be completely frightened by this coming change and not seek to kill it in utero? Because modern societies are so intrinsically tied economically to the Net that the benefits here are just too great and, in fact, overwhelm any negative aspects. A protected internet is in everyone's interest.

The public Beta release is not due until mid first quarter of 2015. The value of MaidSafe coin, which will fuel the SafeNetwork, is currently hovering at 4700 satoshis, which means that if all 4.3 billion Safecoin were available tomorrow (which they're not) the network could be purchased for 202,100 BTC or $80,435,800 in US dollars.

Does anyone know the value of today's internet? It's kind of like asking what is the monetary value of global literacy, knowledge and entertainment.

Just as Bitcoin has hundreds of altcoins, SafeNetwork is sure to have many altnetworks. Early adopters of crypto need to look closely at the technology that is about to change the rules of the Net.

It's just another, better tool - not a ticket to utopia. I'm very much looking forward to using it. One of the interesting things we've yet to come across is the first virus or attack built natively on this platform instead of shoe-horning it in. Maidsafe presents the possibility of distributed malice in a way we've never seen simply because it is agnostic to the purpose it's being used for.

Here is David Irvine's response to how MaidSafe will handle viruses. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LxGr3MHWBms Here is his response to malicious apps. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SCbyRnauuJE

I look forward to hearing an in depth interview with D. Irvine once the public beta is rolled out.

I've been really looking forward to the launch of the MAIDSAFE network. I can't wait to see how it plays out. I imagine if it works it will be wildly popular (doesnt it provide faster speeds if more people are using it?)

I've been thinking about it for a while and think it's terrible to have to go through an ISP to connect to the internet. Ironically I just saw this article about how Hungry may start taxing ISP's per Gigabyte of internet usage. This will just get passed on to current users who will most likely seek an alternative..
