    I just confirmed who referred me (told me about the site).

    I hope, I do not make stupid post to hurt him.

    @jayek Friends and family I'm sorry, you'll thank me later. Nice addition guys!

    @pika

    @mike Can we have some insight on how much we estimate this will affect PoP? Is there a certain portion of the overall fund attributed to it?

    (Not the biggest fan of referral programs. It seems to me like they get gamed a lot and everyone else suffers.)

    How are the gamed? I guess lots of accounts created all linking to a main one?

    Yeah - that's pretty much how it works. I think that if @Adam tweaks the numbers as he indicated above then there are ways to make it difficult for users to game the system.

    For example, if someone gaming the system refer users that post a bunch but in turn those posts get negative votes because they don't add value then the rewards get reduced or eliminated.

    At the end of the day, up voting, down voting, it never works out in the best interest of any forum. You get groups going around abusing it. Not to mention that systems like that can be abused by anyone trying to game the referral system as well. Some basic stuff can be put in place to stop the "stupid" abusers, but at the end of the day any system like that can be gamed by people that really want to.

    I think that value of LTBc will have to be much greater in order to incentivize groups to coordinate and upvote/downvote, abuse the referral system, participate, etc. It also would be fairly obvious to the rest of us that it was going on.

    I rather disagree - a vibrant community self polices that sort of behavior in a well balanced/moderated system.

    I'd like to add some LTB referral forum ad banners on some of my crypto related info and entertainment sites. Does LTB have any official ads that would be useable for this sort of thing?

    What dimensions would you like?

    @Cryptonaut

    would it make sense... and is it possible that if/when someone clicks on an affiliate link

    which is indicated by "?ref="

    that it brings the user to an intermediate page ---rather than LTB's front page.

    The Intermediate page explains how the affiliate program works. ...or a modified version of the front page which has this additional info?

    you should be able to add ?ref= to any URL on the site and it will have the same effect. we could make the default link that is given to people be one for an explainer landing page or something yeah

    Exactly. If someone comes and just spams crap, its going to be really obvious really fast. Their posts will either get deleted or downvoted to hell, negating anything they could get from it. Its smarter to just play the game legit (or even if your really that persistant, you could make a bunch of alter egos of yourself lol)

    How can you downvote a post. I just see upvote ("like"). Or is it planned?
