Hey everyone, announcing a new feature, our Affiliate/Referral program! Now you can earn additional (and potentially recurring) LTBcoin every week from bringing in new community members.

How it Works

There are two ways to gain referrals for your account:

1) Send people to your unique affiliate URL. Anyone who goes to this link and then signs up on the site then becomes your refferal. You can find this by going to the "Referrals" section in your Dashboard, located near the "Notifications" and "Logout" links.

2) Get a friend to claim you as their affiliate. If you were referred to the website by another member, you can go into your Account Settings and enter in their username to become their referral, assuming you have not already been referred (you cannot undo this).

Every week, you receive additional PoP (Proof of Participation) points for every single one of your referrals that was active during that same week (i.e, they also earned some PoP from commenting and reading articles). These Proof of Participation points go towards increasing your weekly LTBcoin payout. This means that if you refer a member that is continuously active on the website each week, you will actually earn extra LTBcoin every week!

Your unique affiliate URL can be found in the "Referrals" section in the dashboard along with a list of any users that you have referred so far. Feel free to post these links on your website, blog or favourite social media site (try not to be spammy though - remember you only are rewarded for contributing members you bring in).

Can we have some insight on how much we estimate this will affect PoP? Is there a certain portion of the overall fund attributed to it?

(Not the biggest fan of referral programs. It seems to me like they get gamed a lot and everyone else suffers.)

    Cheers, mate.

Yes, this has a dedicated pool from the weekly disbursement - we're going to be tweaking the exact numbers for a while yet

@adam will have to answer that, up to him what to set the scoring configuration to, and also we might be paying out affiliates with a seperate LTBcoin pool than the main Proof of Participation one

edit he beat me to it

How are the gamed? I guess lots of accounts created all linking to a main one?

Yeah - that's pretty much how it works. I think that if @Adam tweaks the numbers as he indicated above then there are ways to make it difficult for users to game the system.

For example, if someone gaming the system refer users that post a bunch but in turn those posts get negative votes because they don't add value then the rewards get reduced or eliminated.

Good to know, I have people I referred to this site!

And others that I will, hopefully.

Exactly. If someone comes and just spams crap, its going to be really obvious really fast. Their posts will either get deleted or downvoted to hell, negating anything they could get from it. Its smarter to just play the game legit (or even if your really that persistant, you could make a bunch of alter egos of yourself lol)

    @bcohen Interesting...

That seems wrong, but I guess that's the point of all this. "Mining" got lots of people interested in cryptos. The same principle should apply here.
